What does “culture” mean?
Not sure what to make? Learn what culture is, play two quick games, and leave with an idea.
Culture is the special things a family or community shares and passes down.
It can be food you eat together, music you sing, words you say at home, holidays you celebrate, clothes you wear, stories and games you grew up with, or what your family believes and values.
Think of culture like a family recipe. It has lots of ingredients, and no two recipes are the same. Every family has a culture, and many families have more than one. Yours counts.

What culture can look like
Food. A special meal your family shares on a certain day.
Music and dance. A song you sing or a dance you do together.
Words. The language or sayings you use at home.
Holidays. Days your family or community celebrates.
Clothes. What you wear for a special day or tradition.
Stories and games. Ones passed down to you.
Not culture (yet): a choice you made once, like your backpack color, or a game you played one time.
Game 1: Sort it
Culture is shared with others, passed down over time, and part of who you are. Drag each card into the right box. On a phone you can tap a card, then tap a box. There are no tricks, and every family's culture looks different.
Game 2: Find your idea
Step 1. Tap a clue that sounds like you. Pick the one you feel most excited to share.
Say what it means
Write your title and artist statement
Draft here and watch the word counts. Nothing you type is saved. When you are happy with it, tap a button to copy it or open the entry form.
Write it yourself. Grown-ups can listen, but the ideas and words are yours.
